Considered are modern ideas about the origin of life on Earth, associated with the formation of the biosphere. The structure of the biosphere, the patterns of existence and development of ecosystems, the relationship between the organism and the environment, ecology and human health, and global environmental problems are described. Particular importance is attached to issues of human ecology, analysis of anthropogenic impacts on ecosystems and biosphere, including ecological crises. Attention is paid to the basics of environmental law, professional responsibility, international cooperation in the field of environmental protection, environmental principles of the rational use of natural resources and nature protection, as well as elements of the environmental quality management system and the concept of sustainable development, which determines the role of human society in the social sphere. It contains information about anthropogenic and natural pollution of the environment and engineering methods and means of protecting the environment from man-made influences.

He book deals with the protection of the environment from the negative effects of toxic substances. It is shown that the produced oil is not only a natural resource of production, but also as the main pollutant of the biosphere in the context of the oil-extracting and oil-refining industry.
